General Questions
Why are undergraduates being offered housing at xučyun ruwway?
While it is true that xučyun ruwway is designed primarily for single graduate students, the campus has recently reconsidered the demand from our various student populations and we’ve now expanded eligibility to single undergraduates who may be interested. This, will enable us to offer much-needed housing to upper class undergraduates (i.e., “sophomores,” third- and fourth-years) and to offer housing to more students. By increasing the supply of undergraduate spaces in campus housing, it also enables us to provide a housing guarantee to all incoming first-year and transfer students for their first year, beginning in 2025-26.
Will undergraduates and graduates have their own residential buildings?
Yes, undergraduates will be housed in a separate building, and will not reside in the same buildings or floors as graduate residents. As a community, you will share common amenities like the fitness center, study rooms, and outdoor spaces.
Will there be community-based professional staff on-site supporting both the graduate and undergraduate students?
Graduate and Family Living supports graduate and undergraduate students living at xučyun ruwway similarly to students living close to campus. They will be supported by professional staff who are on-duty to respond to daytime and after-hours needs. There are community standards and guidelines which all residents will need to abide by.
What public transportation at xučyun ruwway will get me to campus?
Direct AC Transit buses to campus are available from the complex, which is located in Albany 3.5 miles northwest of campus. Specifically, we recommend taking AC Transit bus #52 which will have a designated bus stop right at the entrance to the building. Additionally, there is secured bicycle storage at the building and Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) is nearby as well. UC Berkeley students have free access to AC Transit via the AC Transit Student EasyPass.

I am a graduate student graduating in Spring, can I be let out of my housing agreement at the same time as the undergraduates living at xučyun ruwway?
No, the graduate housing agreement is a 12 month agreement that ends on July 31st. The undergraduate is 10 months with a move-out date on the Sunday after spring finals (May 18, 2025).
I am a graduate student and I’m concerned about the cost of living at xučyun ruwway – what can I do to make it affordable?
UC Berkeley also has several programs and campus resources available to help students finance the full Cost of Attendance, which includes tuition and fees, books, housing, food, and transportation. More information about these resources is on the Financial Aid & Scholarships website.
What are the move-in and move-out days for Graduate students at xučyun ruwway?
Graduate students move-in on August 15, 2024, and move-out on July 31, 2025, in alignment with a Graduate academic year housing agreement. Graduate students will have the option to renew their housing agreement.

Undergraduate Student Questions
I’m an undergraduate student who’s interested in xučyun ruwway. Will my financial aid apply to my housing at xučyun ruwway / how will I be billed?
xučyun ruwway is considered an on-campus apartment with financial aid. As with other undergraduate campus housing options, you’ll pay no deposit, you don’t have to worry about credit checks, your financial aid can be applied, and billing goes through Cal Central. Additionally, if you decide to move to the new complex, all utilities such as water, electricity, and internet will be included in the cost of housing.
You will be billed on a semester cycle for residing at xučyun ruwway and payment can be made via Cal Central. Each semester is broken into 5 equal payments. If you are eligible for financial aid it will automatically be applied towards your housing costs.
I’m an undergraduate who wants to live at xučyun ruwway. Will I have to sign a 12 month housing agreement?
No, undergraduates living at xučyun ruwway will be given an academic housing agreement with a move in date of August 24, 2025 and a move-out date of May 17, 2026.
