Wondering about what you need to bring? Each residence hall room is pre-furnished with a desk, bed, drawers, shelf space for each student, as well as a MicroChill refrigerator and microwave combo unit. All campus apartments are fully furnished, except University Village and some Manville Graduate Apartments. Below are lists of items to bring, and not to bring, to residence halls and apartments. Note that you won’t need everything on the lists; it’s up to you.

Must Haves (Traditional Residence Halls and Suites)

- High Efficiency (HE) laundry detergent (Liquid detergent strongly recommended as pods do not dissolve well in current laundry machines)
- Cleaning supplies to keep your room clean: look for products that are Green Seal certified, EPA Safer Choice or ECOLOGO certified
- Extension cord/power strip
- First aid kit with a thermometer
- Go Bag for general preparedness, with 72 hours of essential items
- Hand soap
- Hangers
- Headphones
- Laundry basket
- Lock for bathroom locker
- Medical information (insurance card, doctor's contact, etc.)
- Pain relievers and other over-the counter-medicines
- Prescription or ongoing medications for one month and a copy of your prescription. Plan ahead for refills.

- Home network devices such as Google Home, Amazon Echo, smart bulbs, and smart outlets. (These devices often will not work on Eduroam or Berkeley-IoT, the campus wireless networks.)
