Roommate assignments and contact
If you have a roommate, we encourage you to contact your new roommate directly before searching for them on social networking sites. Remember that social accounts are only a small window into a person’s experience.
Roommate assignments and contact information are released in early August. You’ll find your “Roommate Information” linked in the Housing Portal at the bottom of the “Accepted” page in your current year housing application.
Creating your Roommate Agreement
All students with roommates, suite-mates, or apartment-mates in campus housing are asked to create a Roommate Agreement or Apartment Agreement. Creating an agreement allows you and your roommate(s) to start building and maintain the groundwork for a positive relationship. Your Roommate Agreement or Apartment Agreement form will be sent to you via email about two to three weeks after you move in.

Before you can request a room change
Undergraduate students: You are required to complete your Roommate Agreement or Apartment Agreement before you can request a room change. In order for a Resident Assistant (RA) to help mediate a dispute or facilitate a room change, you and all roommates need to have your agreement form on file. For questions about agreements, speak to your RA.
Community living
Without a doubt, your year in campus housing will be filled with new experiences and memories. Like you, the students you live with are committed to succeeding academically, personally, and professionally. Having a positive relationship with your roommates, suitemates, or floormates will add to the richness of your year. When you feel at home in your residence, you will be a better student and be better able to positively contribute to the university.
