The University of California, Berkeley, offers a variety of housing options for undergraduate students. Housing eligibility depends on your student classification (first-year, transfer, or continuing), your program participation, and your individual circumstances.

Who is eligible for UC Berkeley undergraduate housing?
Undergraduate housing is available to full-time, degree-seeking UC Berkeley undergraduates who:
- Have a housing application in the UC Berkeley Housing Portal,
- in submitted status and
- for the term they need housing, and
- Remain enrolled and in good standing with the university.
What type of housing am I eligible for?
All undergraduate students are eligible to share campus housing with students of various class levels, live in all-gender or single-gender floors/units, and apply to join select Theme Programs.
First-year students housing eligibility

- Family student housing, for students living with families
Transfer students housing eligibility
- Residence halls
- Undergraduate apartments
- Family student housing, for students with families
Transfer students are also eligible for transfer-only housing at Anchor House Apartments or in Transfer Student Hubs.
Continuing students housing eligibility

- Family student housing, for students with families
Maintaining eligibility
To remain eligible for UC Berkeley housing, students must:
- Maintain full-time enrollment each term,
- Stay in good academic and conduct standing,
- Complete all required housing forms and payments by stated deadlines, and
- Comply with all UC Berkeley Housing policies and contract terms.
Additional eligibility considerations
Students studying abroad at UC Berkeley.
- Students participating in UC Berkeley-hosted study abroad programs may be eligible for campus housing during their program.
- Please note that not all study abroad programs qualify for university housing. Concurrently enrolled and UC Extension students are not eligible for campus housing. However, these students may utilize the UC Berkeley Off-Campus Rental Services website as a resource in their housing search.
Students returning from a leave of absence.
- Students who are returning to UC Berkeley after a leave of absence are eligible to apply for housing once their readmission or re-enrollment is confirmed.
Students with families.
- UC Berkeley offers family housing for undergraduate students who live with their children or adult dependents, or with their spouse or domestic partner.
- Family housing provides apartment-style units designed to accommodate the needs of student families, subject to availability and verification of family status.
