Fall move-in schedule

Graduate student housing start date: Friday, August 14, 2026

Students can move in after but not prior to the start date. Rent is pro-rated based on the start and end dates. Financial responsibility begins on the start date, and moving in after the start date will not result in reduced rent.

Please note: Buildings cannot accept packages prior to your move-in date. To ensure you receive all mail and deliveries, do not send, order, or ship packages to your apartment before your move-in date.

On your move-in day

What to bring:

  • Make sure you bring a valid and not expired government-issued photo ID or approved alternative; typically a state ID, driver’s license, or passport. Other forms of identification are accepted. However, they require additional verification and may take longer to process at check-in.
  • Refer to the Move-In Checklist for more items to bring and not to bring.

Check the hours of operation for your building. You can only complete check-in during business hours, so be sure to check hours for your unit’s front desk. Plan to arrive during your scheduled move-in timeslot.

To check in, go to the front desk for your apartment. Your apartment’s front desk may be in a separate building. Front desks are located at:

Apartment access

When you check in, you will receive keys.* When you check in at your graduate housing location, you will pick up your keys for your apartment and bedroom doors, as well as your mail keys. All graduate student housing locations are on Cal 1 Card access to enter the building.

*For xučyun ruwway: Apartments do not use keys for building, apartment, or bedroom entry. Students will use the Mobile Access App to enter their apartments and bedrooms.

After-hours arrival

Students must make every effort to arrive during hours of operation.

  • If arriving after hours is unavoidable, please contact the after-hours phone number included in your “location-specific” move-in email.
  • Please note that your keys will only be distributed during hours of operation for your specific housing location. We strongly encourage students to refer to the hours of operation and arrive during that time to move in and pick up their keys.

Parking after move-in

All UC Berkeley-owned parking structures require permits for both short and long-term parking. To learn about available permit types and how to obtain one, please visit Parking and Transportation.

Metered street parking is available in many locations. Below are a few available parking garages.

City of Berkeley public garages. Check signage and follow instructions to pay for parking.

Intersection Apartment parking

Due to construction, Intersection does not have on-site parking at this time, but there is street parking available in the surrounding area.

Manville Apartment parking

  • To be eligible, a student needs to have accepted a Manville housing agreement.
  • To request parking, Manville residents need to email graduatestudenthousing@berkeley.edu.
  • The cost is $75 per month, is not pro-rated, and billing is via CalCentral.
  • Manville parking is extremely limited.
  • Metered street parking is available as well at university parking lots.

xučyun ruwway Apartment parking

  • The xučyun ruwway parking lot is for residents who have signed and paid for a parking agreement. All spots are assigned by number. If someone is parked in your spot, please take a photo of their license plate and the parking space that they’re in, and then inform the front desk.
  • Metered guest parking is available in University Village and on nearby streets, San Pablo, Buchanan, etc. In University Village, guest spaces are marked GUEST and have signage regarding how to pay for these spaces at an hourly rate. The closest village guest parking is along Jackson Street. For all-day guest parking at University Village, visit My P&T Online and purchase a “UVA Daily Resident Permit.”
  • Charging an electric vehicle? We have four shared Level 2 chargers located in the xučyun ruwway parking lot. Download the Xeal App to get started.
  • If interested in parking, please fill out the Parking Waitlist link, and then email xucyunruwway@americancampus.com.
