Congratulations on your acceptance to UC Berkeley! We invite all Summer Bridge students to live on campus, where you can make the most of Berkeley’s world-class education and campus experience. Our residence halls provide many opportunities for you to create lifelong friendships, build leadership skills, work, play, and get academic support to keep you on the road to graduation and success. On top of all that, it’s safe, easy, and convenient to live on campus.
Where do students live? Summer Bridge students live together in a shared residential complex just one block from campus in Blackwell Hall. Professional and student staff live on-site and provide enriching programs and activities to facilitate a sense of community among Bridge students.
Housing guarantee: Freshman and incoming transfer students are guaranteed housing for Summer Bridge housing if they apply before the priority housing deadline. In order to be guaranteed housing, students must complete the online summer housing application by the Summer Bridge deadline.
Summer Bridge housing application deadline
In order to receive guaranteed summer housing, the Summer Bridge housing application is due on Monday, May 29, 2026 at 5 p.m. We will accept late applicants, however your preferred room type may no longer be available as we provide housing based on first come, first serve.
How to apply for Summer Bridge housing
Before you can get started on your summer housing application, you must enroll in Summer Sessions and create your Berkeley campus identification, CalNet ID. This process is handled through CalCentral. Complete the steps below to submit your Summer Bridge housing application.
- Register for your classes via the Summer Sessions website.
- Log in to the Housing Portal on or after February 1.
- Select “Summer [Year]” for the upcoming summer housing term.
- Review Phase 1 Instructions and be sure to indicate that you are applying for Summer Bridge housing. This step is very important as this will notify the housing team to place you with your fellow program participants in the right location.
- Complete the online application, clicking “Save & Continue” at the bottom of each page. For help, visit How to Apply for Undergraduate Housing.
- Submit your application by the deadline and wait for your offer!
Once you finish Phase 1 of the application, your submission is complete. You will receive an email about your housing application once a housing offer is available for you.
