Eligibility

  • Married or in a domestic partnership
  • Have children or adult dependents
  • Are a dependent
  • Graduate student living with a partner (legal union not required)

University Village is designed with couples and families in mind, offering a welcoming community for undergraduate and graduate students who are living with spouses, domestic partners, children, and/or adult dependents. With a variety of apartments and townhouses for families of all sizes, the Village provides a comfortable and supportive environment with convenient amenities for you and your loved ones. Location

  • Approximately three and a half miles northwest of campus at 1125 Jackson Street, Albany.
  • A 58-acre housing community adjacent to a grocery store, coffee shop, walk-up ATM, and other amenities.
  • Close to the Bay, green spaces, and nature trails.
  • Located on AC Transit bus lines that take you directly to campus or the closest BART station. Ride for free with your Cal 1 Card.

Apartment types

  • 974 apartments and townhouses. The maximum occupancy limit for one bedroom is three people.
  • East Village: Spacious two- and three-bedroom apartments and townhouses.
    • 77 two-bedroom, one-bath apartments
    • 5 two-bedroom, two-bath apartments
    • 154 two-bedroom, one-bath townhouses
    • 28 two-bedroom, two-bath townhouses
    • 30 two-bedroom, two-bath townhouses with study
    • 46 three-bedroom, one-bath apartments
    • 19 three-bedroom, two-bath apartments
  • West Village: One-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments.
    • 192 one-bedroom, one-bath apartments
    • 353 two-bedroom, one-bath apartments
    • 29 three-bedroom, one-and-a-half-bath apartments
  • All apartments and townhouses are unfurnished. Bring your own furniture or rent through CORT Furniture Rental
  • Family housing offers are contingent upon availability. Certain apartment or townhouse options may not be available if already fully occupied.

Special features

  • Direct transit to campus: Convenient AC Transit bus line 52 and line 18 make an easy 3.5 mile commute from Albany, CA.
  • Prime location: Next to a Sprouts grocery store and close to local shops and retail centers.
  • On-site fitness and recreation: Features a fitness center with weights, cardio machines and Peloton bikes, indoor and outdoor basketball courts, an outdoor fitness area, and easy access to nearby trails.
  • Outdoor spaces: Grassy courtyards with outdoor benches, open space greenway, a community garden, and play areas for children. Every apartment has a patio or balcony.
  • Family-friendly resources: On-site playgrounds and close to excellent public schools. Child and Adolescent Programs offered on-site. 
  • Basic needs: The on-site Bear Pantry is a nonprofit that supports basic needs efforts at University Village, offering free groceries and open to all Village residents and staff.
  • Month-to-month rent: Applications accepted year-round and you choose when you want to move in
  • Easy to renew or move: You can stay in the same apartment each year by renewing your agreement, or provide a 30-day notice to move out any time.
