Anchor House Apartments

Eligible students

Undergraduates:

  • Priority given to newly admitted transfer students

Anchor House Apartments is an innovative, modern transfer student-only complex featuring spacious apartments with single bedrooms and in-unit washer and dryers. Unique features include an indoor/outdoor fitness center, extensive community spaces and courtyards, Transfer Student Center, and a prime location across from campus.

Location

  • Next to the western edge of campus at 1950 Oxford Street.
  • Three blocks from the downtown Berkeley BART station.
  • Located near local shops, restaurants, and cafés.

Apartment types

  • Most apartments have two to four bedrooms and one or two bathrooms. 
  • Four-bedroom two-bath apartments are the most commonly available. Limited studio options. 
  • All apartments are single-gender.

Occupancy

  • All bedrooms are single-occupancy.
  • Apartments are typically shared by two to four people.
  • General note: There are very few studio apartments at Anchor House, and they are typically reserved for students with a documented disability need.

  • Exclusive transfer-only complex: Community hub for transfer students with an on-site Transfer Student Center satellite office.
  • Prime location next to campus: Pedestrian-friendly access to classes and the surrounding community.
  • Modern apartments: In-unit washer and dryer, single bedrooms, and full kitchens with appliances.
  • Environmental controls: Central air conditioning and large openable windows.
  • Extensive communal areas: Spacious lounges, study/reflection rooms, and The Pantry, a communal space with a kitchen for group gatherings.
  • Relaxing outdoor areas: Central landscaped courtyard, rooftop garden, and multiple terrace patios and balconies with Bay views.
  • Community spaces, workshops, and classes:
    • On-site makerspace and classes at Berkeley Art Studio West, run by the UC Berkeley Art Studio.

Services:

Net operating revenue for Anchor House funds annual scholarships for Pell Grant-eligible students, recognizing academic and personal achievement.

*Optional dining meal plans can be added to apartment contracts.
